Dear friends,
Thank you for the very positive reception you have given to my new book, Restrooms.1
For the remainder of January, I will donate the entire purchase price2 of every book sold to aid for the survivors of the earthquake that struck western Japan on New Year’s Day.
The 7.6 magnitude earthquake was the deadliest to hit Japan since 2011. Tens of thousands have been forced to evacuate their homes, with basic utilities unavailable in many areas. A large number of the evacuees are elderly and in need of immediate treatment.
The donation will be made to Peace Winds, an NGO that is working to providing medical care and operational support at evacuation centers in and around Suzu City. Peace Winds is a trusted organization that was selected as the initial recipient of assistance from the United States government. You may read more about their efforts here.
I hope you will consider joining me to aid this lifesaving work. Please do also pass this newsletter on to anyone who might be interested in helping (and who might enjoy receiving a book in the process!).
If you have any questions, let me know.
Joel
